UPLAND, Ind. (WISH) - Taylor University officials have learned that a student and professor on assignment in Haiti are safe.

Jared King is a sophomore engineering physics major and Leon Amstutz is an academic technology specialist at the ETC. Both were in Carrefour, Haiti, near the epicenter of Tuesday’s 7.0 earthquake.

King and Amstutz were scheduled to work with Radio Lumiere, a Christian radio station near the capital city of Port-au-Prince through the month of January.

It’s unknown at this time, if they will stay or return home.
